The underground electronic community continues to cultivate new talent, and one of the clearest examples of that has been the emergence of producers Beakfeet, Kitefield, and Marzy over the past year. Each of them delivers something unique to the table with their creative and vibrant approaches to electronic music.
Kitefield, the newest project of the three, burst onto the scene in January 2021 with his debut release Shifting Skies, which received support from artists such as Manila Killa, Former Hero, Xavi, enesai, Felimos, Aethoro, Can of Bliss, and Hollimon. The single quickly gained attention for its immersive atmosphere, groovy rhythm, and a glorious crescendo of synths, strings, and cymbals. The producer also made an appearance on FORM's charity compilation All Nighter Vol. 6, which gained Porter Robinson's approval.
Marzy, releasing since June 2020, has developed a unique style with their refreshing take on trap music, defined by sparkly sounds, stutters, glitchy synths, and jazzy compositions. Their music is as attention-grabbing as their bright, colorful, glitter-filled artworks, and can be astonishing at times; for instance, the last drop of their remix of Imaginary Express by Snail's House packs a remarkable punch while retaining every bit of their distinctive flair.
Beakfeet has been putting out music ever since their remix of Tennyson in January 2020, which gained support from the likes of Former Hero, Lizdek, majorbean, torr, phritz, and plusol. Their song Inure has also received much attention, including praise from Xavi, torr, and Felimos, and remixes from makina and Sub001. Beakfeet's music is a wonderful mix of indie rock, ambient, future bass, and other electronic genres, and they are currently working on their debut album Rapture.
Together, these three artists have created something extraordinary in their collaboration Polarion. The song opens with a beautiful ambient intro, which cuts out and leads to an energetic buildup which glides into a stop-start drop with massive chord stacks, reminiscent of artists like acloudyskye and Xavi. After a moment of peace in the midsection, the artists return to an even grander buildup, with the sounds of birds chirping accompanying the listener before they reach the final drop. What follows is an unbelievably powerful passage: a pounding rhythm alongside majestic chord stacks and an uplifting woodwind melody piercing through the noise.
